Must I purchase a license for each user?

The VAT-ID-Check is not limited to a number of users. You can distribute the program to any number of users in your company. One license is valid for one company location (VAT-ID dependent).

Can you update to a higher version with a license?

You receive an unrestricted license to upgrade to any higher release within a version.

Why do we get “No connection to server possible (result 999)”?

If you are already using version 2.3.1 or higher and receive this return code, this may be due to a non-updated configuration. This can be easily corrected in the following way:
Activate the debug mode via “Menu Extra – Debug Mode” and then open the settings and switch to the tab “Debug”. The BasicUrl set in it should be listed with the value:

After saving the change, error 999 should be corrected.

What is the difference between the check on the BZSt website and the VAT-ID-Check?

There is no difference between the online query and the check by the VAT-ID-Check with regard to the result of the query or confirmation of a VAT-ID. The program calls the public interface of the Federal Central Tax Office (BZSt) for each transferred USt-Id number and displays the answer either on the interface in the program or in the corresponding export file. Only communication errors with the servers of the BZSt are output as additional error messages. You can therefore be sure that the results at the time of the check correspond to a direct online query.

I get wrong results! Why?

It happens again and again that an inspection returns data that identifies a VAT identification number as invalid and has been doing so for weeks or even months (valid-to-value). The reason is partly due to the processing speed of the responsible authorities. Depending on the status of the data used for the check, an already invalid VAT ID number can be returned as valid. Unfortunately, we have no access to and no influence on this data.

Why should I already check the valid VAT-ID at regular intervals?

A VAT ID number confirmed as valid can, for example, be declared invalid after the customer has moved, unless you receive the corresponding changes of address. Insolvencies or mergers can also contribute to a VAT number becoming invalid overnight. In order to prevent this, it is advisable to check your VAT ID number at regular intervals. You will only be informed of invalid VAT ID numbers via the filter settings in order not to lose track of them.

Why do I get the message that no connection can be established?

In the past, the trigger for this report was mostly due to maintenance work by the Federal Central Tax Office. erpware is aware of this problem and is trying to develop an automatism to integrate this information into the VAT ID number check.

Why does the query of a VAT ID number take a very long time?

Behind the process of reviewing the VAT ID there are several components that can contribute to a delay. Starting with your own network infrastructure (possibly proxy server) up to the internal forwarding to other credit agencies at the Federal Central Tax Office (BZSt). Maintenance work on the BZSt system can also be jointly responsible.
